The looks of this headlight visor are very nice. A good coat of chrome polish should prevent rust. You could even clean it really well (to remove any oil or residue) and use a clear polyurethane on the underside, which would be the most likely area to rust. However, just keeping your bike stored in a dry place (garage?) when you're not riding should do it. Now, the down side..... They really need to redesign this thing to include some type of spring steel retaining clip rail that would hold it in place. It just slops around, flopping and turning. Very poor design. I, like others who have reviewed this product, have resorted to using some silicone sealant to hold it in place. Done properly, this will work. But, to me, we shouldn't have to resort to jerryrigging like this, to attach the visor to the headlight bucket. I like the look, it goes very well with my bike. But, c'mon, Kuryakin. Is this the best you can do?(Later) After doing what I feel is an EXCELLENT installation job, installing the visor in the rim of the headlight bucket and securing it with some silicone, I re-read the instructions and can see that they want you to remove the headlight from the retaining ring (which requires MUCH disassembly) place the visor at the top of that and then re-install the headlight.I have a BIG problem with that. The ring is thin metal, NOT designed to be tinkered with and does NOT fit well after having the additional thickness of the visor added to it. So, even though I didn't follow the instructions, I still feel that my installation is better than what they suggest. And, that if they would redesign it to include a retaining device of some kind, to hold it in the rim of the bucket, it would be a MUCH better design that what they currently have. My original rating of three stars still stands.
